A television cameraman with Britain's Sky News was shot and killed Wednesday while covering the ongoing violence in Cairo, the broadcaster said.
Cameraman Mick Deane, 61, had worked for the BSkyB-owned news channel for 15 years, based in Washington and then Jerusalem. He is married with two sons.
The head of Sky News, John Ryley, released a statement praising Deane as "talented and experienced journalist."
"The loss of a much-loved colleague will be deeply felt across Sky News," he said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family."
Sky News said the rest of its team in Cairo were unhurt.
British Prime Minister David Cameron said on Twitter he was "saddened to hear of the death of cameraman Mick Deane," adding that his thoughts were with the family and the Sky News team.
Sky's foreign affairs editor Tim Marshall described Deane as "brave as a lion" in an article on the broadcaster's website.
"Micky was humorous in a dry way, he was wise, and when you're on the road with small teams, people like that are diamonds to be with," Marshall said in the article. "Our hearts go out to his family. He died doing what he'd done so brilliantly for decades."
More than 90 people have been killed across Egypt since security forces launched a crackdown on two protest camps full of supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi in Cairo Wednesday morning, according to an official from the country's health ministry.
Violence spread from the capital into several other cities including Alexandria, Assiut and Ban Suef and in the Minya province south of the Cairo after the operations.
Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood has said many more have been killed during the security crackdown, with some officials saying hundreds have died.
