There were probably more left and right hooks thrown than shots on goal.

The penalty box seemingly had more foot traffic than the ice surface itself. Almost more players made their way to the dressing room in the first period than during the intermission.

No, this was not a typical start to a hockey game. 

As soon as the puck dropped between the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks on Hockey Night in Canada Saturday, the two clubs engaged in a line brawl in a violent opening few seconds. 

There were a few more tense moments in what was more of a melee than a hockey game also, including Canucks coach John Tortorella getting into it with the Flames in the hallway during the intermission.
