A 29-year-old man is facing five charges after three teenagers were shot in Pelican Narrows, Sask., early Saturday morning.
RCMP say they were first alerted to a disturbance at around 4:30 a.m. CST, when a group of approximately 20 people were smashing windows at a home in the northern village.
Police say a man exited a home on Jan Street carrying a .22-calibre rifle and started firing at people nearby.
Three people were wounded in the shooting — a 14-year-old boy from Flin Flon, Man.; a 15-year-old girl from Flin Flon, Man.; and a 19-year-old man from Pelican Narrows, Sask.
Emergency crews transported the three victims to hospital in Flin Flon. Police said Sunday all three have been treated and released.
Travis Alphonse Sewap, 29, was arrested shortly after the shooting. Police say he was taken into custody without incident, and the rifle was seized during the arrest.
Sewap is charged with three counts of assault with a weapon, one count of discharging a firearm with intent and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the shooting.
Pelican Narrows is approximately 280 kilometres northeast of Prince Albert. Flin Flon is 80 kilometres east of Pelican Narrows on the Manitoba side of the province's shared border.
