Calgary utility Enmax says electricity has been restored to all primary lines across the city, one day after a heavy dump of wet September snow toppled thousands of trees and left some 30,000 Calgarians in the dark.
But cleanup efforts have just started.
There are pockets of neighbourhoods that might still be without power because of isolated damage, Enmax said on its website.
Some residents of Bowness, Lakeview, Crescent Heights, Briar Hill, Charleswood, Elbow Park, Mount Royal, Varsity, Lake Bonavista and Maple Ridge say they are still without power Thursday morning.
"Enmax has restored the power to their network," said Ken Uzeloc, director of the Calgary Emergency Management Agency. "There may still be individual customers that have problems. That's where they'll be focusing on now, getting to those individual customers that are still reporting issues."
Calgary saw roughly 35 centimetres of snow in three days. City officials say it will take days, even weeks, to clear away the broken tree branches scattered on roads and sidewalks all over Calgary.
Residents can take debris to city landfills for free, or cut the branches into small pieces and stack them beside garbage and recycling bins.
It might take awhile, but city crews will eventually pick them up, officials said.
All traffic signals are back online and roads are in good shape after city crews worked through the night to clear away debris, officials said.
All Calgary Board of Education schools and Calgary Catholic School District schools are open.
