Sources have told CBC News the video statement is not even a minute long, but in that brief period Zehaf-Bibeau explains the attack was to avenge Canadian forces being sent to Muslim lands.

The one-hour session later this morning will also include a briefing from RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson on the ongoing investigation into the attack.

Both the meeting and the presentation of the video are set to take place in public, and CBCnews.ca will have live streaming coverage starting at 11 a.m. ET.
